Tomorrowland’s “Great Library of Tomorrow” Exhibit To Open In Madrid

Following the success of its debut in Barcelona, Tomorrowland’s immersive “Great Library of Tomorrow” exhibit will travel inland to Madrid this fall.

After launching last December, the unique VR and audiovisual experience welcomed over 40,000 visitors from 56 different countries to Barcelona’s Aribau Immersive Space to revel in the story-driven world of Tomorrowland.

With the Barcelona exhibit now closed, Tomorrowland will now invite the people of Madrid on “a one-hour journey through the magical universe of one of the world’s most iconic festivals.”

A collaboration between Tomorrowland and Xtended Reality Music Hub—a combined endeavor of Blanco y Negro Music and Layers of Reality, known for immersive art exhibits like Dalí Cybernetics and Frida Kahlo: The Life of an Icon—the Barcelona Tomorrowland exhibit featured over 1,000 square meters (more than 10,000 square feet) of digital art installations, key festival objects and artifacts.

In addition to other AI and tech-powered elements, the exhibit’s namesake Great Library of Tomorrow VR experience allows fans to explore Tomorrowland’s rich history through the origin stories of festival themes gone by, including Planaxis, The Book of Wisdom, The Elixir of Life and more.

“Bringing ‘The Great Library of Tomorrow’ to Madrid has long been a milestone in our plans, especially considering Spain’s capital boasts a vibrant entertainment and cultural scene and ‘The Great Library of Tomorrow’ stands as one of the best immersive experiences available today,” Layers of Reality Artistic Director Jordi Sellas said in a press release.

An official opening date and location are yet to be announced. However, organizers have confirmed that the exhibit will open “in the heart of Madrid in the Fall of 2024.”

Before “The Great Library of Tomorrow” opens in the Spanish capital, Tomorrowland Belgium will celebrate its 20th anniversary at Boom, Belgium’s De Schorre Park over two weekends: July 19-21 and July 26-28, 2024.
